Death crash driver sues victim

A Spanish driver who hit a cyclist in his Audi A8 killing him instantly will be suing the seventeen year olds parents for the damage to his car and for the cost of hiring a replacement car while his car was being repaired.

The accident happened in the northern Spanish town of Haro, when the driver hit the cyclist at over 100 mph, the speed limit for that stretch of road is 55 mph, but the driver’s complaint is that the cyclist had no reflective clothing on or indeed a cycle helmet when the cyclist crossed in front of Audi.

Both parties were found to have been equally to blame, but the cyclist’s parents did get over £24,000 compensation, the driver is claiming £15,000 for the damages and car hire. The case is due to be decided upon early next week.
