China builds giant underwater museum

China is planning on building a massive underwater museum which will be over the site of an old ship wreck, we say old but in reality this wreck is ancient around 800 years old. The display will include the wreck itself and all of the treasures that come with it.

The Chinese provincial government of Guangdong has actually allocated around £10 million for the building and a five hall underwater museum; this will preserve the site and the estimated 60,000 to 80,000 pieces of treasure which will be uncovered too.

Preserving the ship like this is probably the best way, as should the ship be exposed to the air then it is likely to break up and then all will be lost.
