Huge £15 million leisure complex takes shape
Started in April 07, the Barton Grange Marina Development covers a huge 52 acre site, and the steel frames of the buildings are beginning to take shape and are now showing exactly how large this project is.
It is intended that the site will be home to one of the largest garden centres in the country, the buildings will have a retractable roof which will open up a sales area and a farm shop in the summer and close in the winter.
The first phase is due to be completed by the summer of 2008, this should also include the canal marina too, which will have a shower, laundry and toilet block, along with fuel pump facilities.
Phase two will bring the whole thing together. This will provide the development with a chandlery, canal side restaurant and bar, gardens and mini golf site. All together it is believed that when the site is finished there will be around an extra 280 full and part time jobs, taking the total people employed to over 400. Making Barton Grange on of the largest employers in the area.
