Coastal Marinas bring in £500 million

In a report by the British Marine Federation which is being launched at the Southampton Boat Show, indicates that the coastal marinas of the UK and Channel Islands is worth more than £500 million to the countries economy.

Although the industry in total only employs around 1,700 people, it is believed that for every one job in the industry there are another twelve jobs supported in the local economies.

This report shows that although the industry is a quiet coastal business that only exists on the fringes of the countries coastline, it does actually contribute a hefty amount of money, jobs and enterprise opportunities that mainly go unreported as the marinas only effect small local communities. But the £500 million is a whole lot of industry and enterprise.
