Tidal turbines for Scotland

If planning permission is granted to Scottish Power Renewable’s, within three years they could be providing power to around forty thousand homes with no carbon dioxide emissions either.

The turbines which have already been tested will be around ninety eight feet long and are designed to move fast enough to produce the energy required, but at the same time are moving slow enough for the marine life.

However the problem lies with fishing, no trawling with nets will be allowed anywhere near the installations, which is bound to create problems from the fishing community.

Should these tidal farms get the go ahead, then by 2050 Scotland would be well on its way to reducing it is carbon footprint by eighty per cent.
