Eco friendly holidaymakers choose camping

Despite the not so sunny summer, it would appear that camping is becoming increasingly popular with people who are interested in saving the environment. Although these modern aged nomads do not limit themselves to the UK, Europe is considered to be within an acceptable travelling range.

In a survey conducted by Discover Leisure, it was found that not only do the campers visit different areas, but they also intend to help the local economy by spending their money on local produce and entertainment. But even more interesting is the fact that over 75% of campers recycles while staying on a campsite and 83% campers who use caravans that are fitted with solar panels.

It is believed that this style of taking a break or holiday has seen a rise of 13% in the UK and they are most likely to come from a major city.
