Betting on your life
Being told that you have a terminal illness is not the best thing that could happen to anyone, but when you are told that you have only two years to live, some people may say “I’ll take those odds” like ex Car Dealer, Jon Andrews, 58 he liked those odds and decided to do something about it.
He went into the nearest bookmakers, which happened to be William Hill who is known for saying that they will take a bet on anything.
So the bet was that for a £100 if he died before 1st June 2008 the bookmakers keep the cash, but if he is still alive by that day then they would be paying out £5000, the odds given to him were 50 to 1.
Being a decent sort of guy he has kept half the money and donated the other half to a cancer charity, however there are rumours that he may have placed another bet, so watch out.
