Movies boost tourism

It would seem that just seeing a movie these days is not enough, some movie goers are taking their love of certain films to another level by visiting the places that appear on the screen. Such as the castle at Alnwick, which was used at the school in the famous Harry Potter series of movies, it has been estimated that the fame has brought in almost and extra £9 million into the area.

While a remote railway station in Scotland, Corrour still has fans of Trainspotting flocking to the scene eleven years after the movie was made, even longer is Thetford, in Suffolk, over forty years ago Dads Army was filmed there and fans are still visiting the area.

It just goes to show you that film making initially may cause interruption and disturbance while the film crews are there, but the long term benefits for a famous movie landmark can reap in rewards for years to come.
