Waitress sacked for giving away 16 cent treat

Theft from the workplace throws up many issues of trust etc, but when single mother working in a restaurant gave a crying child a bite sized doughnut valued a just 16 cents; you may think that this was not a case for being fired.

But it was and the woman from Ontario in Canada, was fired because she was caught giving the child the doughnut on CCTV at the Tim Horton’s Coffee and Doughnut chain of stores, they actually have a shop in almost every high street in Canada.

However due the media coverage, the company have stated the firing was a little extreme, in fact the actions were that of an over zealous manager and should never have happened in the first place. As such the woman has had her job offered back to her and she has accepted.
