Cannabis to be upgraded
Ever since the drug laws were changed in 2004 that made cannabis a class C drug there have been calls for this to be reversed, and now that there has been a change of Prime Minister the process has begun.
Changing the category from C to B means that the maximum prison term will be changed from two year to five years, which just shows the seriousness of the offence. The reason given is the fact that most of cannabis found on the streets, in fact around eighty per cent is skunk. This is much stronger than the regular cannabis.
Of course the Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, should know as she has admitted smoking cannabis while she was student, which means that it is ok them her and her political colleagues, but for everyone else it just won’t do.
