Green leisure centres for Essex

Leisure centres are looking to become greener as well as keeping the population fitter. Creating Leisure the company behind the leisure business across Southend on Sea, Essex are getting very close to becoming carbon neutral, this has been achieved through both the company and staff working towards a more efficient business.

The centres have achieved the Government environmental management standard, which has been put in place to encourage the reduction of carbon emissions.

The company has been cutting its use of all fossil based energy sources and at the same time they will be increasing the use of energy sources. The staff has been making sure that the company keeps improving by checking temperatures, recycling paper, cardboard and glass, using energy efficient lighting and vending machines.

While in the car park a recycling centre has been set up, where members of the public can take the recycling materials.
