Olympic Torch relay attracts protests

It should been a time for celebration, and yet when the symbol of the Olympics came to London it resulted in what could only be described as chaos. As the route of the Olympic Torch relay has several flash points and at one time a protester even had his hand on the torch, but was quickly arrested by the heavy police guard that had been put on.

Virtually from day one there have been protesters against Chinas record in human rights, and London has not been the only place where there had been protests, but after seeing this sort of direct action on the streets of London it has been a very sad day for sport.

Naturally there have been many protests about how the whole relay has been organised and also how the police handled the operation too. In all it would have seemed that despite the weather and protesters for and against the Beijing Olympics, many thousands of people enjoyed the whole event.
