Olympics taking leisure project cash

With the amount of money being spent on the facilities for the 2012 Olympics and other major facilities it is no surprise that some other projects are feeling the pinch. In fact the time and money being spent on the Olympics are being blamed for councils all around the country having to find extra cash just to finish projects off.

One such project is a swimming pool redevelopment in South Lanarkshire has had to approve an additional £5 million in order to simply finish the project off. This is due to increases in costs for both materials and building work.

However it is hard to establish a link between the cost of building the facilities for the Olympics and other projects can be directly related to the increased costs that local authorities are feeling at the moment. It may seem that this is the case, but the Olympics are raising huge sums of money in order to pay for all of the work.
